Lab results for the removed tissue come back, and we learn that the tumor was malignant. Doctors go on to explain that Nate is being diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Lahey Burlington refers him to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. They call back within half an hour, excited at the prospect of treating glioblastoma at such an early stage, in someone as young as Nate. This feels very morbid to me, but I'm grateful that he's getting the best treatment available.
